Albert Able Keith was born on October 23, 1843 in Breckenridge County Kentucky, according to his own writing.  At the age of 18, Albert enlisted for service with the Confederate States Army.  On November 1, 1861 Keith was mustered into service with Company G of the 9th Kentucky Infantry.  Albert faithfully served the Confederate States of America and remained loyal to his company until the close of the war when he was discharged in May of 1865, near Augusta.

After the war Albert Keith returned to his home in Kentucky where he became a Baptist minister of the Gospel.  On August 5, 1871 Albert A. Keith married to Annie Haynes in Henderson County Kentucky.  Albert and Annie continued to reside in Kentucky for the next 12 years.  In March of 1883 Albert and Annie Keith arrived in Florida where they settled in Lakeland, Florida in Polk County.

In Lakeland Albert Keith settled on 98 acres, which he would make an application for homestead.  After building a home where he and Annie could live, Albert planted crops on the property.  In addition Albert preached at one of the local churches in Lakeland.  On April 29, 1890, after meeting the requirement of the homestead application, Albert A. Keith received full title and deed to his 98 acres homestead in Lakeland.

Shortly after receiving the deed for his 98 acre homestead, Albert and Annie once again moved.  By 1909 the Keith Family was living in Trilby, Florida in Pasco County, however Albert retained his Lakeland property that had a value of $500.  In Trilby Albert purchased his family a home where 3 of his 6 children lived with him and his wife, these were Basil age 25, Haly age 24 and Edward age 19.  Albert, being a minister of the gospel, took his occupation behind the pulpit and preached at one of the Trilby Baptist churches.

By 1912, at age 68, Albert Keith was getting old in his age.  In early 1912 Albert visited and was examined by doctors W.G. Devane and H.O. Byrd, M.D., both in Trilby.  The doctors told Albert that he was suffering from chronic pleurisy of both the left and right lungs and he also had chronic cataral bronchitis.

By 1920 Albert and Annie had moved to Elfers, Florida where he took the position of post master for he Elfers Post Office.  Albert once again purchased a home where he and his wife could live.  Albert also engaged in horticulture and grew many varieties of plants and shrubs as well as fruit trees, according to the West Pasco Record.

Rev. Albert A. Keith died December 27, 1927 while living in Tarpon Springs, he was buried in the Cycadia Cemetery.  Albert was the first burial in what would become the Keith Family plot as his wife and five children were interred there.
